5th International Alzheimer’s Conference Concludes with Participation of local, International Specialists, Experts

Riyadh, Fifth International Alzheimer’s Conference, organized by the Saudi Alzheimer’s Disease Association, concluded today with the participation of 31 experts, academics and health specialists from the Kingdom and abroad who discussed a number of scientific topics and solutions for Alzheimer’s and the elderly people.

In its concluding day, titled, “healthcare provider’s burdens: challenges and solutions”, the conference discussed a number of scientific papers and topics with Dr. Ahmed BaHammam, Professor of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at King Saud University (KSU), presenting a working paper on insomnia and other diseases affecting Alzheimer’s patients.

Nabil ALMouaalamy, Consultant Palliative and Geriatric Medicine at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, presented a scientific paper on the role of nutrition in Alzheimer’s patients.

Dr. Daniyah Alkhawtani, Nutrition Specialist at the Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences, also presented a working paper on role of nutrition in Alzheimer’s patients.

The conference saw the participation of other specialists and consultants who presented a number of scientific papers on several issues related to Alzheimer’s disease, treatment and healthcare provision.

Chairperson of Board of Directors of Saudi Alzheimer’s Disease Association Princess Madawi bint Muhammed bin Abdullah suggested, at the conference’s concluding day, that specialized home-based healthcare providers and charity organizations extend quality training to people taking care of Alzheimer’s patients, stressing the need for intensified cooperation among concerned agencies.
