Baghdad The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahia Rasool Abdullah, announced the arrest of a network for smuggling antiquities, in a joint security coordination process.
He stated in a statement: The Iraqi National Intelligence Service, in coordination with the Zinyari apparatus of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, was able to arrest a network of antiquities smuggling consisting of 9 suspects, who were planning to smuggle antiquities out of Iraq.
He added, “They were arrested red-handed, and manuscript that was more than 3,000 years old was seized in their possession.”
He indicated: taking the necessary legal measures against them and referring them to the competent authorities to complete the investigative procedures.
