Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense, Zeina Akar, on Friday received the Canadian Ambassador of to Lebanon, Chantal Chastenay, accompanied by the Embassy’s Political Adviser and the Military Attaché.
Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation and the aid related to those affected by the Beirut Port explosion.
Minister Akar confirmed that work is underway to advance the health and education sectors amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the simmering economic situation.
For her part, the Ambassador of Canada renewed her country’s support to Lebanon in several areas, especially the army, hoping that the government will be formed as soon as possible.
Ambassador Chastenay also congratulated Minister Akar on Lebanon’s Independence anniversary.
On the other hand, Minister Akar also met with Iraqi Embassy Charge d’Affaires in Lebanon, Amin Abdel-Ilah Al-Nasrawi, with talks reportedly touching on the outcome of her recent visit to Iraq.
Later, Akar met with “Tadamoun” Party chief, former MP Emile Rahme, with an array of developmental affairs featuring high on their talks.
