Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Raya Al-Hassan, on Monday received a delegation from FiftyFifty association, which included: Joel Abu Farhat, Paula Majdalani, and Ghinwa Al-Jurdi.
Talks reportedly touched on the need to implement women’s quota in the near future in the impending electoral law, provided that incentives are added in the by-election intended to be held before the end of the year in preparation for 2022 parliamentary elections.
The meeting had also been an occasion to broach the future strategies of the association’s work towards reaching desired goals.
For her part, Minister Al-Hassan expressed her full support for women in politics, decision-making, and public affairs.
Separately, the Minister was briefed by UNDP Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Lebanon, Ghalib Farha, on the projects that the program contributes to, especially those related to municipalities in all Lebanese regions.
Al-Hassan also discussed with President of Ahlouna association in Sidon their activities and objectives in Sidon and the rest of the regions.
