Al-Maliki_The elections will take place on the specified date, no matter what they say, whatever they do and no matter what they threaten

Baghdad Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri ِ Al-Maliki, confirmed that the elections will take place on the specified date, no matter what they say, whatever they do, and no matter what they threaten.

In his speech during the media ceremony held by the State of Law coalition this evening in Baghdad on the values of electoral competition, in the presence of a large group of media professionals, journalists and political analysts, according to a statement by his media office, Al-Maliki considered that elections and free media are among the most important foundations of democracy in Iraq.

He said: “We want the citizen to go to the elections armed with all the facts, and this is the responsibility of the national media, which works to educate people, inform them of the facts and guide them to the path of truth.”

Al-Maliki pointed out that the professional media and its workers should be protected by the government and the state because it works in a sensitive mission and contributes to uniting the word and openness of Iraqis among themselves and urging them to practice democracy.

He added that the media must be respectful, speak honestly, bear the responsibility entrusted to him, and stay away from everything that threatens the unity of the fabric of Iraqi society, because what he presents will be transmitted by people, whether it is bad or good.”

The head of the State of Law Coalition continued, “the elections will take place on the specified date, no matter what they say, whatever they do and whatever they threaten, calling on all partners to stay away from the operations of slandering the other or threatening with weapons and not to offend this democratic process, indicating that the electoral process is the wedding through which a solution process takes place to all the crises that Iraqis suffer from, and also contribute to delivering those who deserve access to Parliament.”

Al-Maliki called on everyone to protect the electoral process from fraud, and manipulation, adding that we want the elections to bring us the benefactors who bear the responsibility and work to correct the course, expressing his hope that the next parliament will be a coherent parliament capable of meeting the aspirations of all Iraqis.
