Baghdad A member of the House of Representatives for Saairun Alliance, Salam Al-Shammari, affirmed his and the Alliance’s support for the statement of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to combat corruption and hold elections as scheduled.
He said in a statement, which the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) received a copy of: “The elimination of corruption and the corrupt is a goal for all honest people and patriots because of its effects and negatives on the country and its sons.”
Al-Shammari renewed full support for the government’s steps in this field, especially in the issue of retrieving the looted and smuggled money outside the country.
He urged the government to hold elections and not to allow postponement, calling on Parliament to support the government in providing what it needs to hold the elections and on their announced date without delay.
