Aoun condemns Sri Lankan bombings, emphasizes urgent need for international effort to eradicate terrorism

President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, strongly denounced “the terrorist bombings that targeted a number of churches, hotels and public places in Sri Lanka at dawn today.”

In this context, Presidnt Aoun cabled his Sri Lankan Counterpart, Maithripala Serecina, condemning the acts of terror that targeted innocent citizens and expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the fallen victims while praying for a speedy recovery for the injured.

“In these difficult moments that your friendly country is going through, I assure you of Lebanon’s solidarity, president and citizens, with the friendly people of Sri Lanka, praying to the Lord on this day of resurrection to spare Sri Lanka such condemned acts that have targeted innocent civilians in sacred places and hotels and social institutions.

“There need has become urgent and pressing for united international efforts to confront and eradicate terrorism,” the President underlined.
