President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, on Wednesday discussed with a delegation from the “Economic and Social Council”, which visited him under the chairmanship of Charles Arbid, the best means to improve the economic situation in Lebanon, most notably the draft state budget of 2019.
Aoun stressed the need to transform the Lebanese economy to a productive one, affirming, “The salaries of poor and middle class citizens will not be affected by the state budget cuts.”
Separately, Aoun also welcomed a delegation of the Association of Retired Military Officers, who stressed following the meeting that it was not permissible to deduct 3 percent of the state’s medication coverage.
In turn, President Aoun confirmed his commitment to “the rights of the military, whether in active duty or retirees.”
