Labour Minister Sejaan Azzi, currently in Yerevan, had audience on Monday with Armenian Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamian, at the Armenian premiership headquarters, over means of bolstering ties between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Armenian Labour and Social Affairs Minister, Ardem Asadarian, and Lebanese Ambassador to Armenia Jean Macaron.
The Armenian PM raised with Minister Azzi the issue of reviving the Lebanese Armenian Joint Committee, which has not met since 2004, hoping that Lebanon would consider this initiative in light of the existing entrenched relations between the two countries.
Azzi, for his part, said that he relayed to the Armenian PM and the Armenia minister whom he met with during his visit to Armenia that “Lebanon highly estimates the role of the Armenian community in Lebanon, which has become an integral part of the Lebanese people and contribute to the uprising of the country and its unity.”
Azzi also pointed out that the Lebanese and Armenian peoples share things in common, including “standing on daily basis in front of the graves of fallen martyrs.”
