Minister of Labor, Sejaan Azzi, said in a Wednesday interview with the National News Agency “our resignation has been submitted and we will finalize current affairs because of the responsibility we must shoulder.”
“The resignation will be suspended as it falls within the competence of the President and the Prime Minister. The publication of a decree in this regard is difficult. The resignation is effective politically, yet constitutionally suspended,” he explained.
Azzi said “the Prime Minister has assumed great responsibilities amid major challenges, accusations and blocking. He wanted to resign, but he decided to sacrifice his interest for that of Lebanon.”
“The solution lies in the election of a head of state,” he said, hoping that this resignation would be a positive shock that can create a new dynamic in national politics for reviving the work of the government and electing a president.
