Bassil: Positive neutrality sheds light on Lebanon’s value in region surrounded by conflicts

Foreign Affairs Minister, Gibran Bassil, on Tuesday held a joint press conference with his Swiss counterpart, saying, “Neutrality is not always the best choice, as it depends on two conditions: large consensus at the internal level between different political sides and the constituents of the folk; and appropriate geographical, regional climate,” adding that positive neutrality “sheds light on Lebanon’s value amidst a region surrounded by conflicts.”

The Swiss minister for his part said, “Switzerland is not a neutral country as concerning facing terror, yet Switzerland does not interfere in what is occurring between two countries. It is a country that is offering assistances and we are trying to translate such neutral position effectively.”
