Caretaker Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, on Friday received at the Grand Serail, the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Dr. Yasser Alawi, in the presence of PM Advisors, Khodor Taleb and Ambassador Gebran Soufan.
The Egyptian ambassador informed PM Diab of Egypt’s desire to hold a meeting of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers on February 2, 2021, to activate Arab efforts and solidarity to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the two-state solution.
Premier Diab also received German Ambassador to Lebanon, Andreas Kindl, accompanied by the Lebanese-German Business Council Head, Elias Aswad, in the presence of PCM Secretary-General, Judge Mahmoud Makie and Ambassador Soufan.
The German ambassador briefed PM Diab on the progress of the process of waste and chemical deposits removal at Beirut port, resulting from the August 4 blast, and shipping to Germany. Diab stressed on the need to accomplish this task as soon as possible.
On a different note, Prime Minister Diab asked the German ambassador to help Lebanon secure intensive care beds, respirators and oxygen supply for Covid-19 patients. He stressed that Lebanon does not ask for direct financial aid and that Germany can directly support hospitals to be able to accommodate and receive Corona patients as quickly as needed.
Diab also kindly asked Ambassador Kindl to provide two million anti-Covid vaccine doses, in addition to the vaccines that Lebanon requested from other countries, in order to secure a quantity of vaccines that would cover all Lebanese and residents on the Lebanese territory.
