MP Ammar Houry said in an interview with the Voice of Lebanon 100.3-100.5 radio station that “any election law would come as a result of political settlement,” adding that “the joint committees have made a major leap yesterday on the way to the mixed law.”
“It is a long and difficult journey, and the 60s law is still the one in force,” he said however.
“Electing a President of the Republic is the introduction to any solution,” he added.
Houry concluded “that the visit of Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Sidon is to emphasize the constitutional right to hold the elections and to urge the people of Sidon to participate, and is certainly not out of fear of the results.”
