MP Marwan Fares spoke on Wednesday in a press conference about the 1997 SSNP proposed electoral law.
“This proposal depends on several issues; it is based on considering Lebanon as one electoral district, as it is based on the principle of proportional representation and the law outside of the confessional register,” he said.
The MP shed light on the importance of adopting a proportionality-based law and reducing the electoral age from 21 to 18, so as to guarantee gender equality.
“Lebanon will not escape its sectarian crisis but through such a law,” he said.
