MP Ahmad Fatfat said in an interview with the Voice of Lebanon 100.3-100.5 that there is serious pursuit by one party to reach an electoral law, while some others are still at square one — such as Hezbollah which insists on a single district with proportionality, or the FPM which clings to the Orthodox suggestion.
The MP stressed that “it requires joint efforts from all parties in order to reach a political consensus [over the election law].”
Fatfat highlighted in this regard “commitment to the mixed law suggestion signed with the Progressive Socialist Party and the Lebanese Forces.”
“Everyone wants an election law based on the Constitution and the Taif, except Hezbollah which seeks a law that guarantees the balance of powers and interests,” he said.
