The National Federation of Employees’ and Workers’ Unions in Lebanon (FENASOL), and the founding committee of the Port Drivers’ Syndicate, on Tuesday said in a statement that a meeting was held at the Ministry of Labor in presence of Minister of Labor, Lamia Yammine, among FENASOL, the committee, and the Truck Owners Syndicate at Beirut Port.

The meeting discussed the implementation of laws and employment of Lebanese drivers, as well as the need to stop arbitrary layoffs and the replacement of Lebanese drivers with foreign ones.

The Federation and the committee demanded that the labor and traffic laws and the social security law be applied to all. They also pushed for a decision by the Ministry of Labor to restrict certain occupations to the Lebanese workforce only.
