Prime Minister Saad Hariri received today at the “Center House” the World Bank Director for the Middle East Ferid Belhaj, in the presence of Hariri’s economic advisor Mazen Hanna.
After the meeting, Belhaj said: “I discussed with Prime Minister Hariri the cooperation between the World Bank and Lebanon, especially after the formation of the government in the coming days. There are important new projects and other old projects that we will continue. They are social, economic and infrastructure projects.
I also confirmed to Prime Minister Hariri the readiness of the World Bank to be Lebanon’s partner on all levels. I conveyed a message from the president of the World Bank expressing the permanent willingness of the World Bank to stand by Lebanon.”
Hariri also met with the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Lebanon, Badr bin Mohammed bin Badr Munziri, who congratulated him on his assignment to form the government.
Afterwards, Hariri received a delegation from the Lebanese Economic Forum, headed by Rafic Zantout, who said after the meeting: “We had the honor of meeting with Prime Minister Hariri. We agreed with his Excellency to hold an economic meeting on the sixth of next month, so that PM Hariri explains to the economic authorities and businessmen what the government wants to accomplish, and listens to their demands.”
Hariri received a congratulations phone call from the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
