Interior and Municipalities Minister, Nuhad Mashnouq, met on Tuesday at his ministerial offcie with British Minister for Syrian Refugees, Richard Harrington, accompanied by British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter.
Talks reportedly dwelt on the British plan to receive 20,000 Syrian refugees from Lebanon and the region.
Harrington thanked the Lebanese authorities for hosting such vast numbers of refugees, praising the Lebanese for their exemplary hospitality and sense of tolerance in hosting them.
Harrington also underlined the UK’s continued support to Lebanon, saying that his country “shall continue to carry out the required efforts to help Lebanon cope with crises resulting from hosting Syrian refugees.”
Minister Mashnouq, for his part, heaped praises on “the British support for the educational sector in Lebanon, which is witnessing exceptional efforts to enable the Syrian children to reach education, akin to the Lebanese children.”
