Baghdad The head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Muhammad Reza Al-Haidar, stressed the importance of a component balance in the security services, ministries, and the intelligence apparatus.
He said in a televised statement that the positions in the defense and interior ministries have a good balance, as they include Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish leaders, pointing out that it is unreasonable to assign the position of chief of staff to a Kurdish leader.
Al-Haider stressed that corruption in the security services had the main role in the fall of the governorates in the hands of ISIS previously and not only the responsibility of the security leaders.
Al-Haider confirmed that security positions were being bought and sold at the time of Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s government, but they were stopped by the government of Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
