Japan will extend a grant to Ehden Governmental Hospital to provide specialized medical equipment, through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program (GGP). On November 23 2022, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Dr. Joseph Tannous Frangieh, Director of Ehden Governmental Hospital.
Ehden Governmental Hospital was established in 2002 and offers various medical services to vulnerable community members. Despite its vital role in the region, the hospital has suffered from shortages of medical equipment that are fundamental for its smooth operations. Considering its pivotal role in the health sector in Lebanon, Japan has decided to support Ehden Governmental Hospital by providing it with advanced medical equipment such as an endoscope unit. This initiative will enable more than 4,000 patients annually to have access to advanced medical services at affordable costs.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador OKUBO stressed the important role of the public health sector, highlighting Japan’s recent support to governmental hospitals. From their side, Ehden Governmental Hospital thanked Japan for its generous support and emphasized the urgent needs for the assistance towards the public health sector in Lebanon.
