BEIRUT, — Minister of Agriculture Rida Al Khawaldeh on Thursday held talks in Beirut with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam on ways to enhance agricultural exchange between the two countries.
In statements to the press, Minister Al Khawaldeh said he also held talks with his Lebanese counterpart Akram Chehayeb on ways to cement agricultural cooperation. He added that talks touched on the difficulties facing Jordanian and Lebanese farmers as a result of the regional turmoil, mainly in Syria and the disruptions in agricultural products’ transportation cycle.
Al Khawaldeh also affirmed that Jordan will through its weight behind Lebanon to set up the quasi-regional office of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
