Kanaan: No desire among some to approve electoral law that restores partnership

Member of Change and Reform parliamentary bloc, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, said on Sunday that some had no intention to approve an electoral law that restores national partnership, pointing a finger at Future Movement and the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP).

In an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio, the deputy questioned the time it would take to convince Future Movement and the PSP of the need to ratify an electoral law that complied with the Constitution, insofar that it would respect equality and partnership.

In his words, the Free Patriotic Movement would always refuse undermining national partnership; hence, giving Christian blocs the right to boycott legislative sessions in the absence of a draft electoral law on the agenda of said sessions.
