MUSCAT: Dr Issa al Hussain, Director of Sultan Qaboos Earthquake Centre, denied rumours of an earthquake in the Wilayat of Khasab in Musandam Governorate. An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale occurred in the Arabian Gulf, 277 km away from Khasab, and 37 km off the Iranian coast. The tremor was felt in the Qatari capital of Doha, but Khasab was not affected, Dr Al Hussain said. The Earthquake Monitoring Centre reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 40 km at 53,5922 degrees longitude and 26,3922 degrees latitude.
