Minister of Information, George Kordahi, on Tuesday visited the state-run TV Channel, Télé Liban, in Tallet al Khayyat , accompanied by Information Ministry Director General, Government Commissioner at TL, Dr Hassan Falha.
Minister Kordahi toured the various TV Station’s departments and met with TL Board Chairman, Dr. Toufic Traboulsi, and several directors and officials.
The minister expressed his happiness to be visiting Tele Liban which has witnessed the beginning of his career, and has opened several opportuinitis for him at a professional level.
Kordahi welcomed the appointment of TL board chairnman, underlining the need to activate the role of Télé-Liban not only through programs and news but also on the media arena.
In response to a question about freedom of expression in Lebanon, he underlined that he is one of the great defenders and strong advocates of these liberties, refusing false accusations in this regard.
In response to a question about his plan for the public media, he said: “I am assessing the current conditon of the Ministry of Information with all its institutions. The Ministry of Information is a strong ministry, which incorporates the “National News Agency” being the most important news agency in Lebanon and the Arab world; “Radio Liban” which we will seek to revitalize; and Télé-Liban which has the most important archives in the Middle East.
Later, the minister and his accompanying delegation paid an inspection visit to Télé-Liban building in Hazmieh.
