LEAs nab sectarian killer (Dawn (Pakistan))

The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have recently captured a suspected target killer belonging to a banned sectarian outfit from the Kakrali area of Kharian tehsil.

The area is known for the presence of such elements as the said suspect was wanted in two incidents of target killing.

Sources told Dawn that the suspect had been handed over to a premier intelligence agency for further interrogation as the Gujrat police had captured the suspect a few days ago from somewhere near Kotla Arab Ali Khan Town.

A senior official in the Gujrat police confirmed the arrest of the suspected militant but declined to share the identity of the man who, according to him, was under investigation at an undisclosed location.

Meanwhile, three suspects having links with the militant network had been taken into custody from different areas of Gujrat district during the recently conducted swoop on seminaries by the commandos of Elite Force and police a few days ago. These suspects were found connected somewhere in tribal belt of Waziristan Agency as they did have travel history to the areas besides keeping in regular contact in aforementioned areas through telephonic link.

These three suspects were also handed over to another law-enforcement agency.

NEW HEALTH EDO: The Gujranwala division director health services has been handed over the additional charge of the Gujrat executive district officer (health) by the Punjab government following the removal of Dr Ijaz Haider from the post of EDO.
