MUSCAT: The latest weather charts show that a low pressure system centered on the north of Iran will likely affect the Sultanate on Friday and Saturday. Weather conditions are expected to gradually become cloudy or partly cloudy from Friday evening in the governorates of Muscat, Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, South Al Sharqiyah and Hajar Mountains with chances of scattered showers. Motorists are strongly advised to exercise utmost caution as visibility can turn quite poor during the weather system.
A statement issued by the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said that the numerical weather predictions show that the Sultanate will experience northerly to north-westerly winds active at times and causing dusty conditions on most of the governorates and high waves in the coast of Musandam.
Active north-easterly winds are expected to blow on the Sea of Oman on Friday causing high waves and low temperatures and poor visibility due to dust. In its statement the PACA warned fishermen and sea-goers to avoid the sea during these two days unless after making sure that turbulent weather has settled.
