“Kataeb” bloc member Elie Marouni considered on Tuesday that “the 1960 law abolished the Christians’ rights and the Lebanese rights as well”.
He added that every time the electoral law is proposed disagreements occur.
“Speaker Nabih Berri rescued the country from a new problem which is constitutionality and adjusted his stance by announcing his readiness to approve a new electoral law,” the MP said.
He told the “Voice of Lebanon” radio
that rather than throwing the ball in the court of the joint committees, it would have been better for Berri to call for a General Assembly to vote on one of the electoral draft-laws.
