Interior and Municipalities Minister, Nuhad Mashnouk, met on Friday afternoon at his ministerial office with US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard. The latter listened to Mashnouk’s opinion regarding the proposed political issues.
Mashnouk stressed during the meeting the need to elect a new president in a bid to regulate the work of the constitutional institutions, to preserve the security achievements and to boost them amid the ongoing presidential void.
For her part, Richard expressed the US administration’s appreciation to the efforts carried out by the Lebanese Army and all the security apparatuses and their accomplishment in fighting terrorism.
Richard showed her country’s readiness to provide more aid to the security apparatuses.
On the other hand, discussions touched on ways to support the Lebanese Cabinet to reduce the Syrian refugees’ burden.
Separately, Mashnouk chaired a meeting with the committee tasked to monitor the mechanisms and the implementation phases of the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 1 on 03.02.2016 related to the treatment of solid waste in the city of Beirut.
