Interior and Municipalities Minister, Nuhad Mashnouq, categorically underlined that the security situation is under control, indicating that “Lebanon is one of the few countries whose military and security forces have succeeded in taking pre-emptive operations and uncovering terrorist networks.”
Minister Mashnouq tackled with the UK Ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter, who visited him today at the Ministry, the current political developments and security challenges.
Mashnouq briefed Ambassador Shorter on the efforts undertaken by the security and military forces under the orientations of the government and the concerned ministries, in terms of ensuring the country’s security and stability and the recently undertaken pre-emptive operations.
Talks also reportedly touched on the Syrian refugee dossier and the steps currently under discussion by the relevant ministerial crisis cell in charge of Syrian refugees’ affairs.
Ambassador Shorter seized the occasion to congratulate Mashnouq on the accomplishment of municipal and mukhtar polls, heaping praises on the Ministry’s efforts in securing the best conditions for the success of the electoral process.
