The Ministry of Economy and Trade has officially set the new 900 gram bread bundle price at LBP 2250.
This decision came on Monday after the Ministry of Economy and Trade announced that the Iraqi flour donation, which has been being used by bakeries to produce bread bundles since November 23, 2020, was out of stock.
Consequently, and due to the rise of the global wheat prices, and based on the manufacturing, distribution, and sales cost, as well as in view of the high exchange rate of the USD against the LBP, Caretaker Minister of Economy, Raoul Nehme, issued a decision setting the official bread bundle prices as follows:
– A large size bundle: a minimum weight of 900 grams at maximum price of LBP 2250.
– A medium size bundle: a minimum weight of 400 grams at a maximum price of LBP 1500.
Nehme also affirmed that he would issue a decision to reduce the bread bundle price depending on the USD exchange rate or the global wheat price.
