Monument design unveiled for Nizwa Culture Capital 2015

Bank Nizwa hosted a special event yesterday under the patronage of Hamad bin Hilal al Maamari, Undersecretary of Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, to unveil the design concept for the monument that will honour Nizwa as the ‘Islamic Culture Capital’ for 2015. Held at the historic Nizwa Fort, the evening gathered members of the local community and government representatives to celebrate the Wilayat that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said called “The homeland of great leaders, scientists, scholars, intellectuals and literati.”

“As the Islamic Bank carrying the name of this remarkable Wilayat, it is our responsibility to continue to contribute to its rich history. Since our inception, I am proud to say that we have been able to achieve this goal by becoming the Bank of choice for thousands of citizens across the country,” said Dr Jamil El Jaroudi, Chief Executive Officer,Bank Nizwa.

Scheduled to be built in the heart of the community next to the infamous Nizwa Souq, the monument design is inspired by ancient Islamic architecture and references two historical landmarks in Oman, the dome of the Sultan Qaboos Mosque and Nizwa Fort. The official Nizwa

Islamic Capital Culture logo will be inscribed on the dome in intricate Arabic calligraphy.
