Vice Prime Minister, National Defense Minister, Samir Moqbel, on Wednesday said that the recurrent attempts by evil-doers to drag Lebanon into the warren of sedition or chaos have all failed thanks to the resilience of the army in coordination with other security services, and the awareness of the Lebanese.
Minister Moqbel’s fresh words came at the LAF Research and Strategic Studies Center Conference’s 6th regional conference at Monroe Hotel in Beirut, under the patronage of Prime Minister, Tammam Salam.
Moqbel represented the Premier at said conference, which took place under the title of “The Middle East in the shadow of the new world system and the impact of global global conflict on the region” in the presence of scores of ranking dignitaries and officials.
Moqbel said that discounting the situation in the Middle East and failing to reach serious solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and addressing socio-economic development needs in some countries, have further fueled conflicts thus luring into the injustice global policy which the region have suffered from its ferocity in the past two centuries.
“Despite the challenges faced by the region, Lebanon remains a living and distinguished role model in the Mediterranean countries, in terms of cultural and humanitarian coexistence among religions, as a result of the commitment of the Lebanese society and the military, in particular, with all their energy and determination to confront extremism and fight terrorism with courage and wisdom,” Moqbel concluded.
