Vice Prime Minister, National Defense Minister, Samir Moqbel, currently in Russia, opened up his itinerary by partaking in the inaugural session of the 5th
International Security Conference, followed by a visit to Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
Talks between Minister Moqbel and Patriarch Kirill dwelt on most recent international and regional developments, as well as the current situation of Christians in the Middle East.
Later, Moqbel met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu, with talks majorly touching on stringent needs of the Lebanese army, and the Syrian refugees’ issue.
Shoigu reiterated Russia’s relentless support to Lebanon and its army, working for the prevalence of peace in the region through its fight against terrorism.
