MUSCAT: Mild tremors can be expected in and around the Dimaniyat area in the wake of the recent earthquake, according to the Earthquake Monitoring Centre at the Sultan Qaboos University. Oman had experienced three mild quakes on April 18, 19, and 20 with intensities ranging from 1.9, 1.3, and 2.54 on the Richter Scale respectively.While the first one was reported in Muscat, the other two were reported some 160 km off Muscat on Saturday.
The latest in the series of the latest earthquakes was felt off Salalah on Tuesday night. The earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on Richter Scale occurred in Arabian Sea off Salalah on Tuesday night at around 8 pm. “The epicentre of the earthquake is in the Owen Region, some 369 km south east of Salalah coast. The depth of the quake was 10 km,” a report from United States Geological Survey said.
