September 09, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Arthur Nazarian, on Wednesday inaugurated Beirut Sixth International Energy Forum, at Le Royal Hotel, Dabyeh, in presence of a panel of figures, diplomats, ministers, and energy experts.
In a word delivered on the occasion, Nazarian at first hailed the efforts exerted to organize this event, which he deemed as “a framework to enhance and encourage cooperation among local, Arab, and international bodies, and to exchange knowledge in order to develop the energy sector, and enable it to fully assume its role in economic and social growth.”
Highlighting the necessity to have an environment supportive for national energy-related projects, Nazarian indicated that the sector still needed more investments by the state or donor sides, or even by duly implicating the private sector .
He did not fail to underline the salient role of Lebanon’s Central Bank in creating financial motives and funding mechanisms that push forward towards market growth and increasing investment opportunities.
“This forum is a chance to display and discuss the national plan on energy competence from 2016 until 2020, drawn by local and Arab partners, before submitting it to the Cabinet so that the Lebanese government should adopt it,” Nazarian said.
“This is how the roadmap for the next phase is determined, as well as the required funding. It shall become an official document,” he explained.
