General

NNA – Members of the “Lebanese Association of Parents of Students Studying Abroad” staged a symbolic protest stand in front of the Central Bank’s building in Hamra today.

Participants criticized the ruling authority for abandoning its role in preserving social stability and failing to cater to citizens’ needs and to implement the student dollar law. They also blamed the judicial authority for abandoning its role in holding the looters of public money accountable, as well as the Association of Banks and the Central Bank Governor.

“Our sons are demonstrating today in France, Ukraine, Italy and Belarus, to support all students of Lebanon in the name of the International Federation of Lebanese Youth. Why? Because this country has abandoned them,” the participants went on, stressing that the student dollar law is the least of their children’s rights in this corrupt country, pledging to pursue their demand for its implementation.

The Association called for a gathering in front of the Banque du Liban upcoming Tuesday morning, to “determine the next steps for the long marathon day.”
