MUSCAT: To help promote the Sultanate’s airports, Oman Airports Management Committee (OAMC) has dedicated a specialised team to develop awareness events within the industry by sponsoring events such as ‘Routes’, which is considered the most prominent international event. Shaikh Samer bin Ahmed al Nabhani, General Manager, commercial operations, OAMC, said, “We also have the intention to develop future plans to link all airports with seaports and this comes within the framework of developing logistics and cargo services in general in the country.
This shall come through cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority and other companies operating within the seaports sector.” An official at the Ministry of Tourism, had recently told the Observer that in the coming years Muscat will emerge as a flourishing home port for cruise liners with the completion of the airport project as it will help add more direct flights from emerging cruise source markets of India and China.
It was revealed that Omanisation percentage for OAMC has reached 91 per cent and the company ensures comprehensive training programmes for all categories of employees and without exception. The company initially started sending teams to various training programmes to develop local talent.
