Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, said on Monday that Lebanon could not but keep its head high.
“We will not allow our nation to fall, but we hope our beautiful Lebanon will keep rising higher and higher with its beautiful cedars and nature. We will not allow any attempt to distort Lebanon’s nature, people, culture, civilization, and political system,” Rahi said in an address he gave during a visit to Tannourine Cedar Reserve, in presence of Telecommunications Minister, Boutros Harb, National News Agency Director, Laure Sleiman Saab, and other official figures, dignitaries, and Tannourine locals.
The Maronite Patriarch blessed the Tannourine Cedar forest and planted a cedar tree at the entrance of the forest and then unveiled a commemorative plaque that hangs from a an aging tree and holds his name.
In turn, Harb delivered a word in which he hailed the efforts of the Maronite Patriarch “safeguarding Lebanon with his leadership and presence.”
