Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Rahi, said that it was shame on Lebanese people to stay years waiting for regional countries to decide the President for Lebanon.
Patriarch Rahi’s words came Tuesday during his meeting in Bkerki with the council of Attorneys Syndicate in North Lebanon.
He confirmed the ongoing cooperation with the lawyers, calling on political parties to take initiatives to overcome the political crisis that affected the country at the socio-economic and security levels.
Rahi also criticized any interference in the work of the judiciary authority, adding that such interference could undermine the basis of society.
He said that no one at all would be able to convince him that the country could persist without a president, indicating that the legislatures, as well as the executive power, were paralyzed while corruption was prevailing in the country.
“This is unacceptable,” he concluded.
