Resigned Justice Minister, Ashraf Rifi, confirmed on Monday ongoing cooperation with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, stressing that any demand by this international instance will be met duly by the State Prosecution.
Rifi was mainly referring to the demand by STL to confirm the identity of the body said to be belonging to Hezbollah’s Mustafa Badreddine, freshly killed in Syria, but also accused by the tribunal of involvement in the 2005 assassination of former statesman Rafic Hariri.
The resigned minister explained that the demand “will take its normal course before the State Prosecution of Cassation, to task a competent side with conducting DNA test or any other procedure that is helpful to investigation and justice.”
Rifi made these remarks during his visit to the graves of late Hariri, Mohammad Shatah, and General Wissam al-Hassan.
