Salalah decked up for a massive procession today

SALALAH: Salalah has been decked up for a big rally on Friday. Starting from Salalah Grand Mosque at 4.30 pm the rally will reach Al Husn Palace covering the Al Nahda Road. The rally has been organised to express gratitude and happiness over the coming back of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos from Germany.

Since the word for the rally has already been spread via social media and word of mouth, the attendance is projected to be high with the participation of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, other top ranking officials, citizens and residents from all walks of life.

Confirming his participation in the rally local resident Khalid Amer said: “I feel like my enthusiasm and energy are back after so many days. Though I was doing my business in a routine manner there was something missing all the time. I am going to participate in the rally along with my family members and friends.”

Meanwhile, the local business houses, public and private sector bodies continued with celebrations in their establishments. Some companies threw parties for their staff members, while many others made it as a family day or open day for their stakeholders.

Port of Salalah organised a cake cutting ceremony in which a large number of port staff took part and expressed happiness over the return of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.

Al Rafd and Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises used this as an opportunity to invite their stakeholders and SME entrepreneurs, while Sultan Qaboos Hospital organised a celebration at its newly operational heart unit in the hospital premises.

Small and big business units have decked up their establishments with His Majesty the Sultan’s pictures and Omani flag. Many of them have done a facelift to their entrance by painting them with the tricolour and putting up national symbols prominently. Being weekend a large number of expatriates are also likely to take part in the rally to show solidarity with Omani nationals. “I am in Salalah for the last 27 years and I treat it as my home.

The country has offered me several opportunities and above all peaceful and safe atmosphere to me and my family. It never came to mind that I am away from my country,” said Professor Gamaleldding Abdel Hay Hamid, Chairman of Sudani community. He assured his participation in the rally.
