Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, met at the Grand Serail on Monday with Italian House Speaker, Laura Boldrini, who visited him in the company of Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Massimo Marotti, with talks reportedly touching on the best means to bolster Italian-Lebanese relations.
Separately, the Prime Minister had an audience with UN Special Coordinator, Sigrid Kaag. Talks between the pair focused on the means of implementing international security resolution #1701.
Also, Salam met at the Grand Serail with Kataeb Party MP Sejaan Azzi who said that his visit came to follow up on Party leader Sami Gemayel’s last week visit over Kataeb MPs’ intention to resign from the current cabinet.
However, Azzi made clear that at the absence of a Lebanese President, the resignation should be made orally, which means that the resigning ministers would be performing caretaking tasks at their respective ministries.
“This preserves Kataeb’s role watching over a number of issues and dossiers, not to mention gives it the freedom to act without being forced to stand as a false eye-witness to all the things that have been taking place at the Council of Ministers,” Azzi added.
