Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa is preparing to welcome two special guest chefs from Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, to showcase their culinary expertise and share their authentic Singaporean culinary experience from February 8 to 21 at Asia restaurant. With more than 30 years of culinary experience, sous chef Amer Hashim is one of Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore’s finest chefs. Born in Malacca, Malaysia, this Peranakan chef learnt the ropes from his grandmother’s kitchen when he was just 12 years-old.
Taught with an emphasis on precision — from the authenticity and originality of each dish to the detailed preparation and cooking methods — chef Amer always applies this simple principle while creating his culinary masterpieces. Believing in the philosophy, “good food makes everyone happy”, chef Amer always ensures that his guests take pleasure in his creations.
A simple delight in food inspired a young man to pursue a career as a chef. That young man is none other than Andy Ho.
232947Chef Andy started his culinary adventure when he was 19-years-old. Now, he is a chef de partie at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore’s award-winning all-day dining restaurant, The Line.
An avid learner, he constantly improves his knowledge through market research at popular eateries besides his regular interaction with other senior chefs of the hotel. Although he is particularly interested in Thai cuisine, chef Andy is an expert in local specialties such as Fried Bee Hoon and Beef Rendang.
Signature dishes featured in the special à la carte menu will include special Char-grilled Satays, choice of grilled beef, chicken or lamb served with peanut sauce; Singaporean-style Oxtail Soup, braised oxtails in soup with spring onions; Wok-fried Chilli Crab, sizzling crab in a piquant tomato and chilli gravy; and Pisang Goreng, deep-fried bananas served with cinnamon sugar and coconut ice cream. For a complete experience, diners will have three choices of set menus accompanied with selected beverages.
