SURSOCK MUSEUM TO LIGHT UP IN COLORS OF GREEK FLAG MARKING BICENTENARY SINCE LAUNCH OF STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE

NNA – The 25th of March 2021 marks the bicentenary since the launch of the Greek Struggle for Independence. On this occasion, Greece celebrates this milestone that has given birth to the modern Greek state and set into motion a new era for Europe and for the wider region.

The 200 years’ anniversary is also an opportunity for Greece to reflect on the past, assess the present, and help shape the future.

Marking this occasion, the Embassy of Greece in Lebanon has announced that on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 at 19:00, the Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock Museum will be symbolically lighted in the colors of the Greek flag.

This important anniversary for Greece and the Greeks coincides with the centenary of the Greek Community of Beirut, which has long been a strong connecting link between the two friendly countries.

Thanking Sursock Museum for this honorary gesture towards Greece, the Greek Embassy considered it “yet another expression of the exceptional relations that have united the two peoples since ancient times.”
