BAGHDAD Iran on Sunday commented on Lebanese Hezbollah attacks on Israel after the recent bombing.
Ali Shamkhani, secretary general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said in a press statement that Hezbollah’s attack on the Israeli army was a retortion.
Shamkhani said Hezbollah’s policy was based on defending Lebanon’s interests.
“The policies of Hezbollah are aimed at protecting the interests of Lebanon,” he said, commenting on the Hezbollah’s attack on the Israeli army on Sunday.
“Hezbollah has great popular support in Lebanon,” he said, adding that Hezbollah’s punishing for the Zionist regime is a similar response that shows the determination of the resistance front to face threats.
“Hezbollah fighters destroyed an Israeli military vehicle near the border on Sunday,” a Hezbollah statement said.
The party said in a statement that the operation resulted in “killing and wounding those who were ” inside the vehicle.
The Israeli Army said that several anti-tank missiles were fired from Lebanon and hit some targets and that Israeli forces were reacting.
