House Speaker Nabih Berri convened on Monday with an Iranian delegation headed by Iranian Vice-President Seyed Mohammad Ali Shahidi and accompanied with Iran’s Ambassador Mohammad Fateh Ali.
Shahidi, speaking following the meeting, said that the political developments required “now more than ever” encounters between Lebanese and Iranian officials.
“The most important topic we tackled was the right of Lebanon to resistance against Zionist enemy,” Shahidi said.
He warned of forgetting the Palestinian cause and affirmed that cooperation was underway in that respect between both countries.
“We will witness the day the Palestinian people becomes victorious over the Zionist enemy,” he said.
In the afternoon, Berri received an Australian delegation headed by the chairman of the parliamentary opposition in New South Wales, accompanied by Australian Ambassador Glenn Miles, with talks featuring high on current developments, bilateral ties and parliamentary relations between both countries.
Separately, Berri received a letter from head of the Kuwaiti Umma Council, Marzouk Al Ghanem.
