Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox, Patriarch John X Yazigi, said in his Easter message on Saturday that one must remember on this festive occasion those who are in the line of fire and suffering from violence, while the world watches on.
He prayed that Christ would spread peace all over the world, especially to the “tortured East.”
“We pray today that the rhetoric of reason and peace prevails over that to takfirism and violence. We pray that God gives peace to Syria and stability to Lebanon.”
Yazigi also prayed for the two abducted bishops of Aleppo, stating that their absence remained an open-wound and a smudge of shame on those who did nothing to help find them.
